Podcasting" is a compound word coined in 2004,
that combined two words: "iPod" and "broadcasting."
However, podcasting does not require an iPod and over-the-air broadcasting
is not required. You just need an internet connection for your computer.
The editors of the New Oxford American Dictionary declared
"podcasting" the 2005 word of the year, defining the term as
"a digital recording of a radio broadcast, made available on the
Internet for downloading to a personal audio player or computer".
Here's how our podcast works. Every night we record
the first hour of America's Prayer Meeting. We place the recording on
our computers at the Christian Television Network. When everything is
finished, we give our computers instuctions to tell you the new program
is ready.
You subscribe to the ministry through a "reader."
(A reader could just as well be called a "listener"...because
it will let you subscribe and then listen to each new program.) Our Podcast
is offered free.
We know this is really new, so we have prepared
a step by step tutorial to help you. If you already have an Itunes account,
look for us in the podcasting section by searching on the keyword, "prayer".
Google is really easy to use, so we will start there. Cick "subscribe"
to the left to follow on to the tutorial.
